The Eurofest Management Committee whose voluntary work makes the festival possible.
President since inception in 1992, Hermann Wandl, died in May 2013. His place at the helm has been taken by Jenny Wandl. Jenny has spent a life in community theatre, which makes her ideally suited to this task. Born in New Zealand, married in London to Hermann, and Australian since 1971, Jenny has spent most of her time in Sydney and in Killarney Heights. She is a keen skier, is Treasurer of her ski lodge, works as a volunteer for The Compassionate friends – ask her what that is – is on the Committee of the Austrian club and spends what little spare time she has with her 7 grandchildren.
Eurofest co-ordinator. David Stephens.
When the committee found the work involved in planning and organising such a successful festival became too much, David was asked to co-ordinate the whole show. Under his administration the Festival has grown each year. David’s insistence that we need fireworks has added another dimension to the festival. When not lining up tents and stalls, David runs the Narrabeen festival, where he does the same work, and for a change drives a bus.
Vice President and Treasurer Peter Chermak.
Peter’s roots lie in the Czech Republic. He is Treasurer of the Czech Club Sokol. He has been an active member of the Festival Committee for many years. His Hobbies are tramping and pistol shooting.
Assisting the Treasurer, Ray and Pat Cerny
Ray and Pat have been looking after the Eurofest finances for many years but have now decided to act in an assistant capacity.
Ray was born in the Czech Republic, but has lived for many years in Australia. A keen member of the Czech Club Sokol, Ray is also a dedicated sports shooter. His Australian born wife, Pat, is also his right arm in the running of Eurofest finances. Pat is a keen bridge player. The Cernys live in Forestville.
Secretary Lianne Stephens.
Lianne has been involved in Eurofest for several years, as part of her work with Apex Davidson. She is a tireless worker at Eurofest, her knowledge of several languages being an asset to the organisation. Lianne is married to Co-ordinator David, and has two grown sons who also help out at the festival.
Entertainment / Programme Co-ordinator Jenny Wandl.
Licensee and Eurofest Bar Manager Brent Issaia
Brent is currently the Secretary and Venue Manager for the Austral-Armenian Associations’ Galstaun Function Centre. After assisting his association with their stalls, as required, over the past 19 years, Brent has blown like a new wind onto the Eurofest Committee. He has taken over the Licensee and Bar Operatations positions with great efficiency, and assists with the festival setup and pack-up as well as Marketing activities.
